A waffle baker, grill, and griddle, this three-in-one appliance comes in handy during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and after school. Key to the unit's versatility are two 8-inch-square cooking plates--one set into the product's bottom and the other into the hinged top. On one side the plates form grids for making four waffles at once. Flipped over to show their flat sides they're capable of top and bottom grilling a sandwich or steak. To create griddle space, the top opens up flat, forming two 8-inch-square cooking surfaces for all foods that love a griddle--such as pancakes, hash browns, and eggs. Channels send grease to spouts in the griddles' corners, where it drains away. Nonstick to release food easily and wipe clean, the cooking plates also can be removed for scrubbing. A heat control offers high, low, and medium temperatures. With its chrome housing and stay-cool black synthetic handles, this 900-watt appliance looks great on the counter. Afterward, the cord wraps around the hinge, plus you can stand the unit upright for compact storage. In theory, this item is great. It makes waffles and it can cook a porkchop in 4 minutes. However, be prepared for a nasty burn if you graze any part of the grill other than the tiny black handles. Also, even after "conditioning" the cooking plates as per the instructions, everything we cooked stuck to the cooking surfaces; both the flat and the waffle side. On top of that, the grease rails on the sides of the flat surfaces are not deep enough and 1 hamburger generates more than enough grease to overflow the channels and spill hot grease all over the grill and your counter top. Finally, the small clip that holds the cooking surface on the top part of the grill is too small. At least once during every cooking, the top hotplate would detach from the lid. It was always a tricky situation trying to get a trapped hamburger out from between 2 greasy, 300 degree hotplates that now have no handle. It's really disappointing because this could have been a great product if a little more thought had gone into the end design.

This waffle iron looks exactly like the G.E. model I got as a present for my mom for Christmas over 30 years ago with the only difference being nameplate change. Same shape, design, and handles. Look no further than this one. I absconded the waffle iron when I moved out as my mom never used it anyway (glad you liked it Mom!) I'm still using it today. The griddle side makes perfect pancakes and grilled cheese; I don't think there's anything else that cooks them so uniformly. Get this one and your kids will be fighting over it when they're dividing up your stuff when you're dead and gone.

I HAD THIS WAFFLE MAKER BEFORE. I HAD IT FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS, THE ONLY REASON IT BROKE WAS MY TEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TRIED TO MAKE WAFFLES,SHE POURED TO MUCH BATTER IN AND IT WENT UNDER THE PLATES,THAT SHE DID NOT HAVE IN RIGHT.I HAD A HARD TIME FINDING THIS.I TRIED MANY OTHERS SOME I PUT IN THE TRASH AFTER THE FIRST USE.WENT TWO YEARS WITH OUT HOMEMADE WAFFLES.THEN I FOUND THIS I LOVE THIS WAFFLE MAKER IT IS THE BEST.THE PLATES COME OFF FOR EASY CLEANING.THE LIGHT GOES OFF WHEN WAFFLES ARE DONE,TAKES THE GUESS WORK OUT OF IT.THE WAFFLES ARE PERFECT WHEN THEY ARE DONE.THE BEST EVER WAFFLE MAKER.

I am pleased with this waffle maker! It's really like the ones our mom used, It's also got a lot of excellent features that make my life easier. It is the best one of all the others I have purchased recently.
