| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Here we note that while the lids are still made of tempered glass, the dishes themselves are now constructed from stoneware. They still have the same classic styling that easily moves from oven to table, and here you have a complete set of baking dishes you'll use time and time again. Still oven, microwave and dishwasher-safe, Corningware manages to arrive at the dining table looking elegant and unruffled by whatever might have transpired in the kitchen.

given as a gift August 15, 2010 Bonita Gerriets I can not rate this product because I gave it as a gift. I have a comparable CorningWare bake and serve set that I love. Great for baking and tabletop serving.
Know what you're buying! July 30, 2010 Scott Disregard the CorningWare name. It isn't the old, super-durable ceramic glass you know and love. It's just ceramic bakeware now. It'll work in the oven, but if you want to brown something on the stove top before transferring to the oven, look elsewhere. This cannot do it. Also, this particular set has no handles. That's a little odd. I'm all for style, but not at the loss of function.
I've since picked up a set of real CorningWare from second hand stores. It's inexpensive and easy to find due to its popularity over the past few decades. Even heavily used pieces have cleaned up to flawless condition using a light, scratch-free cleanser such as Bar Keeper's Friend Liquid Cleaner - 13 oz Bottle and gently wiping with a sponge.
Although to be honest, if you're looking purely for oven usage, and don't mind not having handles, this set will function perfectly. It cooks great like all ceramics do, it just isn't as forgiving or as versatile as its predecessors.
Sturdy and beautiful March 6, 2010 Mom (KC MO) This is a lovely set of kitchenware. I was warned that this Corning Ware wasn't as sturdy as the older Corning Ware but I have been really impressed with all of the pieces. We use them a lot (3 kids)and run them through the dishwasher over and over. They have stayed looking nice and fresh. The sizes are really convenient and the lids work really well. We found this to be a very practical and attractive set. It was also well priced! A great deal!
The lids do not fit January 29, 2010 C. McDaniels (NY) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My wife and I received this item as a bridal shower gift. They sat for a year while we lived in a small apartment, and we were excited to finally use them. Well, as we used each peice, we began to realize that none of the lids fit properly. For us, the whole purpose of getting these was to store leftovers without having to use plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Well, unfortunately, we still have to use plastic wrap or aluminum foil. What a waste.
Update:
When I contacted customer service to explain that the ldis do not fit, I received the following email:

Dear Chris,
The glass covers the come with our Corningware casseroles are not designed to seal. They are designed to sit along the rim / lip of the dish. If the dish shifts or is tilted to the side the cover may slide off. There will be a variance between the glass cover and the dish and this allows for ventilation so that a vacuum seal does not occur.
For further assistance, please contact our Consumer Care Center at 800-999-3436. Representatives are available from 8am to 6pm Monday through Thursday and 8am to 5pm on Friday, EST, and will be more than happy to assist you.
Sincerely,
April

Now, don't get me wrong; I was not looking for these to form a seal. I am a reasonable person. I do, however, expect the lids to fit somewhat properly, and not slide off if the dish is shifted, as the customer service representative suggests will happen. So, I suppose, by this customer service representative's own admission, you should only use the lids if the dish is not going to be moved at all, or you risk the cover sliding off. Save yourself the headaches, and buy something that is made with quality in mind, from a company that has even the slightest desire to see that their customers are satisfied.
But don't buy this.
Broken piece December 15, 2009 Linda Barksdale (NF., NY) I purchased the set as a gift for Christmas. I needed the pieces for a party which I was catering. When I opened the box, one of the pieces was shattered! The piece on the top was fine and the piece below was not damaged. I did not bother to return it as I was going on vacation and did not want to stand in line for the return. I just accepted the loss!
In spite of the broken piece--it was a good deal!
