4 out of 5 stars Nice shape   March 7, 2010

I was always a fan of pyrex. So I ordered these as it was a different shape. I liked these, htey are good for storing. I wish pyrex brings out nice shapes like these. It is good for freezer, refrigrator or taking to school or work.

5 out of 5 stars I love the Pyrex stuff - replace your plastic!   February 10, 2010

These containers are heavy-duty glass, with heavy-duty, flexible plastic lids. Plastic is ubiquitous and said to be toxic. If you want to avoid microwaving anything in plastic, switch to some nice glass containers like these. I've had mine for over a year, use them constantly, and the lids are still just fine, and the glass is spotless.

5 out of 5 stars Great product   February 10, 2010

I have been SO concerned about the dangers of plastic-leaching and assumed that there wasn't much to choose from in the way of glass storage containers and that it would be too expensive to buy, but I was wrong on both counts! I love the Pyrex glass storage ware. It is very thick, in my opinion, and the lids are very easy to get on if you start at one end and "smooth" your way around. My lids have all fit well. Also, the design of these lids makes them easier to clean. All the previous plastic container lids I've owned have had a very narrow opening on the underside edge where the container fits into the lid. These crevices can trap bits of food and liquid and can be very difficult to clean. The Pyrex lids have a wide lip that can easily be wiped out; I'm really sold on this part. I haven't tried liquids in them yet to know about leakage, but I'm sold on them for carrying lunches, storing all kinds of cooked foods, raw vegetables, etc. in the refrigerator, and have put a bunch of them in the freezer also with lunches in them. They clean up in a SNAP (the round ones are easier to clean than the square one because of having no corners), and they seem very sturdy and well-made. The red lids are a little garish and overly bright in my opinion and are not truly red, so I much prefer the blue ones, but in the end it doesn't matter that much since they're just for food storage! I purchased 3 different sets of the Pyrex glass storage and love them all. A lot of them nest together to save space also, which helps in storing all of these! I've already gotten rid of the majority of my plastic ware, and I just got a new Pyrex set yesterday, so I'll be getting rid of more of the plastic now! This set has a large 4 3/4-cup rectangular container which will hold a good amount of whatever. The 2 small rectangular ones included are just a tad under 2 cups and are SO handy for so many things. If you need to store large batches of food at one time in large containers, you'll probably need a set with larger containers than this one has, but these smaller sizes are so useful for so many things that I couldn't do without them. Needless to say by this point, I'm thrilled that these are now available to buy!

5 out of 5 stars No more plastic! WOOOOHOOOOOO!   January 31, 2010
Kristie M (Hixson, TN)
I am very happy with my Pyrex and grateful that I do not have to use a ton of dishes to make a meal, by transferring it from plastic to be cooked. I also use it store nuts, grains and clarified butter in the fridge and it's a great help to keeping the refrigerator better organized because I can see what is in the container. The biggest plus is that I can reuse it over and over and over and over again and not have to worry about plastic breaking down or having to spend a fortune in Ziploc baggies.

1 out of 5 stars I won't be buying any more CorningWare, Corelle or Pyrex items   January 18, 2010

When I bought these I felt they would be useful.

But I won't be using them for baking and I won't be buying any more. No more Corelle, no more CorningWare, no more Pyrex. No more Anchoring Hocking, either, for that matter.

I am not usually militant about a product--I normally feel of course companies will try to make the most money they can and consumers should try to do their homework and make good choices.

But I am highly upset that the company has not addressed a very widespread problem with their products exploding when heated. Some people have experienced injuries, yet somehow, the company has gotten away with not recalling any products. They have simply added to their warning label in an attempt to cover themselves.

For this reason, I won't be buying any more from a company that is willing to take the customers' money but doesn't seem to care at all that they are selling a dangerous product.

Here is a link to an interesting article on the problem: [...]
