2 out of 5 stars Good start, but its design needs revisions   October 8, 2009

A fine cup that is oval-shaped for easier handling. The oval shape also means you don't need the overweight handle which leaves it unbalanced when empty. As for the slider, it's a gimmick that doesn't work as well as you think. If you want to fill it to 1 cup, you fill it to the bottom of the slider; however, it's so deep in the cup that it's quite difficult to see exactly where water meets it. Better would have been to measure it to the top of the slider (on the inside). Also, the slider doesn't really notch to the measurements, meaning it will slide out of place if you jostle or move the cup other than how an old lady would. Why no lines around the cup indicating volume? Oh that's right, then you wouldn't need the slider gimmick. Finally, the numbers on the side of the cup are small.

I do not recommend this. Cooks Illustrated does, but if you compare their kitchen tool recommendations with real Amazon customer experiences, they match about half the time. This is one of those times when design fails. I removed the slider (it slides right off) and cut off the handle and it's suddenly a decent measuring cup.
