I love it! March 8, 2010 Sean M. Moran I did a lot of researching online before deciding on this model. From reading reviews, I have determined that the Delonghi line of superautomatics is the most reliable in this price range. Once I narrowed my search to Delonghi, the choice came down to features. Basically, display or no display, or automatic frothing were the differences between models. I ended up getting the most basic model and I think it was the right choice for me. Frothing is not that difficult and I have learned to use small espresso cups propped under the frothing pitcher so I don't have to hold it during frothing. The display, while nice, is not really needed since the 3300 has lights that indicate the various modes, errors and maintenance items.
It is very easy to use. Just feed it water and coffee beans and clean out the waste coffee pucks and water that collects in the catch tray.
The quality of the lattes is very good. The frothing isn't the best for latte art but thats fine with me.
Very happy March 7, 2010 First time mother (West Hartford, CT) We purchased this machine after a vacation where we became accustomed to conveniently consuming espresso on a daily basis. Our previous experience with an espresso machine was limited to a dual coffee/espresso maker from Krups that we received as a present. It was a cute idea but very entry level; the machine was very light weight and since the espresso function was manual, rather unstable due to its extreme lightweight. It was also quite difficult to clean the steam/milk frothing apparatus; I never really felt it was clean. We eventually stopped using the espresso part of the machine due to the poor design.
*This* machine is very easy to operate (I'm not at all technical) and to clean, and while it wasn't cheap, it certainly didn't fall into the small used car category. It's important to read the user manual (keep it handy for the first 1-2 weeks so you can look up what to do when the little lights illuminate), but it really a very easy to use espresso machine that produces lovely coffee. We have used it at least once a day (sometimes 2-3) for about a month, and have not encountered any issues. You'll quickly learn what the little indicator lights mean, and won't need to look them up in the user manual.
I took a cue from another reviewer re: discounts; we also purchased ours at Bed Bath Beyond using the 20% off coupon. At this price, 20% off is significant! I also felt that it would be better to purchase locally so we could return it quickly and without shipping issues if there were obvious defects (there were not).
I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a more affordable high quality espresso maker that is easy to use.
New machine arrived broken and not covered by factory warranty March 6, 2010 Dudley Lovely (Portland, OR USA) I received this machine as a gift. It was new in a factory-sealed box. The first time I tried it, water leaked from the seams on the side of the machine by the water tank. It was completely unusable. I attempted to have it serviced under the factory warranty. It took about 5 phone calls to the Delonghi customer service call center, and about 1.5 hours on the phone, before I was informed that they would not cover the machine under factory warranty because, even though it was brand new, it was not purchased from an authorized retailer.
Caveat emptor.
Experienced superautomatic owner March 3, 2010 Robert C. Caridi I used to have a Saeco but was unimpressed with their customer service. I purchased a machine that had a "ceramic" grinder because it was the "latest and greatest" but I was not aware that this is more difficult to clean when it becomes clogged (especially if you use oily beans). After several years the machine clogged and when I called service they told me I had to bring it somewhere for them to service it. It turned out to me a "mother board" issue and was going to cost about three hundred bucks. Told them not to fix it and I will by a grinder for fifty bucks. I saw this machine on Amazon and it seemed like a good deal. Got it, worked well but when it came to cleaning the brew group it got jammed. I couldn't get any satisfaction with DeLonghi as they told me it would need service or contact Amazon. I went to the return site at Amazon and they took care of everything in seconds. Sent me a new machine (same one), and I sent the old one back in the box that came with the new one. Really simple. I know why it jammed--make sure the machine is OFF when you remove the brew group. It makes a nice cup of coffe and the steamer really makes for wonderful foam. Great value for the price. I am probably most impressed with Amazon!
Works great, easy to operate March 1, 2010 Fitzpatrick Insurance Solution (Austin) I have had my machine for about 10 days. I love it. It worked great right out of the box and makes an excellent, high quality coffee.
