Product Description The ideal paring knife should be the length of your thumb. This provides good leverage and eliminates the need to hold the knife's cutting edge. A paring knife is ideal for cleaning, paring, peeling, slicing small fruits, and vegetables or boning small poultry.
Amazon.com Review Part of the popular Four Star line, this hand-honed blade is made with Henckels' Sintermetal Component Technology (SCT), which allows three different grades of steel to be combined to form a single piece, fusing together the blade, bolster, and tang. What does this mean in layman's terms? It means a strong, high-quality knife that will last a lifetime. Founded in 1731, the J.A. Henckels company is not only one of the world's oldest cutlery manufacturers, it's also one of the most well respected, creating best-selling knives guaranteed to last a lifetime. --Kim Harwell From the Manufacturer | First introduced in 1976, the Four Star® Series is one of the world's most popular knife lines. Four Star® knives were designed and developed in close cooperation with renowned professional chefs. The result was a fully forged knife with a unique molded handle. The Four Star® line contains knives for all tasks, and includes the following open stock knife types: parer, bread, peeling, sandwich, utility, carving, chef's, granton edge slicer, santoku, and others. Four Star® knives are also available in a range of block sets and gift sets. | | A Higher Standard in Knife Construction Four Star® knives are precision forged from a single piece of exclusive-formula, high-carbon, no-stain steel under the all-new Sigmaforge standard. As a result, Four Star® knives have improved quality consistency, lasting sharpness, and perfect geometry. Sigmaforge one-piece construction also provides high precision and improved stability of the blade and steel structure, thus improving cutting-edge retention for lasting sharpness. In addition, Four Star® knives use J.A. Henckels' Friodur ice hardening for corrosion resistance, a process that also contributes to cutting-edge retention. It's All in The Grip: | The Four Star® series features high impact polypropylene handles that are permanently bonded to the knife blades without any gaps. These comfortable handles are break-proof, sanitary, and colorfast. In addition, the super bolster provides weight, insures safety, and adds balance. | | Features: - SIGMAFORGE 1-piece, precision forged construction: Provides perfect geometry, high precision, and improved stability of the blade and steel structure, thus improving cutting edge retention for lasting sharpness.
- Laser controlled edge: Is sharper and stays sharper longer. Has a more consistent blade angle.
- Friodur ice hardening: Maximum no-stain properties and more blade strength. Improved resistance to corrosion and pitting.
- Super bolster: Provides weight, insures safety, and adds balance.

Decent knife February 27, 2010 Ravi Shanghavi (Ottawa, Ontario Canada) Purchase this to go with a bunch of other Four star knives I have in my block. It's a decent knife but nothing spectacular. If I didn't care for ascetics as much I'd buy the Victorinox knives as they tend to keep their sharpness. This knife has not, and within a few months of light use it lost it's edge.
henkel knife February 26, 2010 Marian T. Cleary (Holbrook, New York United States) great knife at a good price. every kitchen needs a good and reliable paring knife.
Great little knife for the price February 6, 2010 S. Harris (Montana City, MT) We bought this paring knife as a replacement to our missing Henckels paring knife. This one is definitely sharp and appears to be made better than our original knife. My only qualm about this one is that the blade is pretty short but I am slowly getting used to it.
Perfect paring knife December 19, 2009 RS (Ohio) I've had a full set (w/o scissors) of Henckels for over 25 years. Use them every day. My son accidentally tossed away the paring knife, so I used a different paring knife for a few weeks and when my new one arrived, I realized what a perfect paring knife this is. Glad to have it back in the wood block. I decided to add a pair Henckels kitchen scissors to the block and now my set is complete.
Best Value December 13, 2009 R. Clanderman (Reno NV) This is an excellent knife for some one who needs a small paring knife. The handle is comfortable and a good grip, doesnt slip when wet or your hands are geasy. The edge is compact enough to manuver easily around bones and is sharp enough to easily slice any meat or veggie Ive tried it
with. This is my 3rd henckel Twin 4 star and i cant say Ive discovered anything I dont like about any of them. The price is a bonus for a really great knife. For an all around quality knife that you dont have to worry about the edge (as with a ceramic knife ) I dont think you can beat the
value. Did I mention it holds its edge. A professional quality knife at a bargain price.
