Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Combining the features of a chef's knife and a cleaver, the Santoku is an all-purpose knife that's ideal for cutting meat, fish, and vegetables. The word "santoku" means three good things--a reference to the three cutting tasks it performs so well: slicing, dicing, and mincing. The kullens along the edge of the blade help to reduce friction, which prevents food from sticking. For proper balance, this 6-1/2-inch Santoku knife also features a sharp, stainless-steel full-tang blade that is stain-proof and hardened for strength. Oxo regularly wins design awards for its Good Grips utensils, which have black ergonomically correct rubber handles that are comfortable to use. The handle on the 6-1/2-inch Santoku knife also provides that familiar nonslip, pressure-absorbing feel, whether wet or dry. It's contoured to fit the hand snugly while providing a safe, secure grip. Measuring approximately 10-1/2 inches long, the Santoku knife carries a lifetime warranty and is dishwasher safe, but washing it by hand with warm, soapy water, and promptly drying is recommended.

5 out of 5 stars perfect everyday knife   July 25, 2010
cmedin02
As a college student moving into a non-furnished house, this knife was perfect. It came sharp, the grip works great whether my hands were wet or even 'slimey' from working with chicken, and the nice medium size works well for all of my housemates whose cooking skills range from mac & cheese to full dinners. The price didn't hurt either.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent knife for the price paid.   July 18, 2010

This knife gets 5 stars because of the price/quality ratio. Compared to Wusthof or Shun or any other high-end manufacturer these "cheap" Oxo knives are fantastic.
It is made with Japanese Stainless Steel and factory ground to a remarkable edge. They are full tang, well balanced and feel great in your hand.

You can't ask for more out of a $20~ knife.

5 out of 5 stars Great Knife, Great Price   May 20, 2010

This knife is weighted very nicely and has a comfortable grip. It came very sharp, and I use an Oxo Good Grips Professional Sharpening Steel to keep it sharp. Everything I've read leads me to believe that this knife works best when sharpened after every use. I definitely notice a difference in sharpness when I forget to use the steel, so make sure you get a steel and use it often!

4 out of 5 stars Great Knife   May 10, 2010

I purchased this knife to go along with the 4in Santoku and I am very pleased with both knives. I use the 6 1/2 in knife for cutting meats and larger type vegatables/fruits such as watermelon or cantalope and in all cases it is like cutting through warm butter. I have had to sharpen this knife a couple of times, but then I have to be really careful because it is so sharp. The grip makes it easy to use and overall - I am a happy camper!
