5 out of 5 stars Great knives!   January 3, 2010

I bought this knife to create a "set" for my mother. The knives lived up to all the other reviews. They were easy to handle and worked great.

2 out of 5 stars Grip is great, but cuts at an angle   May 5, 2009

Oxo Good Grips Professional 8-Inch Bread Knife
This knife is made of good quality steel and has a good grip and feel as well. However, the way it slices bread is totally unacceptable. I bake my own bread, both rye and wheat bread, and I have yet to produce a decent slice with this knife that did not come out as a wedge. In other words the knife pulls to the left (a lot, not just a little) while cutting. The blade has a very nice serrated edge on one side and on the other side it is smooth. Someone told me that is the reason for it cutting in that manner, however the manufacturer's customer service people say it's made like this on purpose. It cuts o.k. through vegetables, but I bought it for bread, and it is called a "Bread Knife".

5 out of 5 stars Great knife for bread and tomatoes   September 27, 2008

This knife feels good in the hand. It does a great job on bread. As a bonus, in this season (late Sept.) of wonderful, ripe tomatoes, it does a great job of clean cutting even soft tomatoes.

I had originally tried a higher-rated (from a leading cooking magazine) bread knife by Forschner. R H. Forschner by Victorinox 10-1/4-Inch Curved Blade Bread Knife, Black Fibrox Handle The problem with that knife was that it is too large to be comfortable to use with a smaller hand, and it won't fit most knife racks except in the one slot reserved for your big chef's knife.
