Ginsu 14-Piece Bakelite Knife Set with Block, Black July 23, 2010 Patti Brown (RINGGOLD, GA, US) These knives are not as sharp as expected, and they don't hold up well in the dishwasher. After less than a year's use I will need to buy more knives.
Great Beginner Knives July 13, 2010 Richard S. First off I have to say it's a good deal for what you are paying for. I bought this because I wanted a beginner's knife set to learn my way around the knives. The description of the knife set is not the same as what amazon.com said, but that I what I was hoping for. The knife set said there was a bread knife, but there actually was a Santoku knife. Its like the Japanese chef knife that is lighter and thinner. Its shaped strangely rounded down rather then up. I think its just their product design. My favorite knife is the Santoku knife because it was light and sharp and the boning knife because its' easy to use around large pieces of meat (just not as flexible as other models).
Pros
-Block is a solid block ( it doesn't tip over when the knifes are inside)
o It looks the same as the 04814 model on their website
-Comes with a large verity of knife all of them were serrated except the Santoku knife
o This means that the knife stays sharp for a while without being needed to be sharpen
-Full tang
o Knives that are solid that won't break as easily
Cons
-Blocks (looks a bit cheap, but you get what you pay for)
-Serrated edge
o Can't be sharpen, usually means that the knives are cheap
o I tried to use shears to cut bones, but they bend somewhat pretty easily
o The paring knife can't be used very well because of the serrated edge and the same goes with the utility knife, but all you really need is the chef knife and santoku (the rest is extra, but nice to have)
I have only had it for 3 months and it seems to be fine. They say dish washer safe, but I always hand way and dry it so I can put it back in the block. So I take care of it and things seem to be fine, no rust or anything.
Love These! June 29, 2010 Amber Hanford (Cedar Rapids, IA United States) These suckers are fantastic. They're sharp, they look pretty on a counter, and there are so many of them that you can still cut your carrots even if you have a dishwasher full of dirty dishes...
The one thing I can't review from this set are the steak knives as we have a separate set of unserated ones that we love. But the rest of the knife set has worked fantasticly - and I love the block that they rest in. Weve been using them for months now and haven't encountered any rust or dullness.
goof looking and great . June 27, 2010 swapna 0 out of 1 found this review helpful

Absolutely the BEST June 22, 2010 Avid Gardener (Bakersfield, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've always liked the Ginsu brand. The blades are sharp and never get dull, and the handles lightweight and durable. The price was great. I will never buy any other knives but Ginsu.
