Amazon.com Review Busy cooks cherish rice cookers. This one cooks up to 3 cups of dry rice (white or brown) and keeps it warm up to five hours. A glass lid permits monitoring of the cooking process. Instructions and a cooking chart explain everything. A measuring cup and serving spatula are included. The cooker operates with admirable simplicity: just push a switch to start. The switch and a light turn off when cooking is completed, and the unit automatically goes into its keep-warm mode. Stay-cool handles on the cooker's sides permit it to be moved. Only plastic scrubbers and mild detergent should be used for cleaning. --Fred Brack
Product Description Sometimes it seems the world of appliances has no room for smaller households, the mantra seems to be "the bigger the better." However, in this case there is an exception. The Zojirushi 3 cup rice cooker makes the ideal amount of perfectly steamed, plump and tender rice for small families, or even singles (after all you can always warm up the leftovers). The non-stick removable pan is easy to clean and a glass-lid lets you keep an eye on the progress.

Simple easy & nice February 24, 2010 Edward Omens (San Diego) I paid about $50.00 at an Asian market in San Diego (99 Market) . Iwas looking for the cheep Sanyo, but the Zojirushi was the only small one they had. No one could spoke
English..so I bought this one....
It is easy to clean, works fine. I got 3 cups of rice in about 20 minutes. It shuts off with a click that I heard in the next room. The directions say to let it sit with lid on for 15-20 minutes to let the rice get more flavorful. Actually ,it was still very hot and I don't see the need to have a "stay warm" feature. I like that it's small and simple..perfect for me and my wife.....
Its like when I was dating...perky and cheep is better then expensive and depressing.......Eddie
Adequate rice cooker for those who don't want to invest in a larger, more expensive model December 27, 2009 Debbie Lee Wesselmann (the Lehigh Valley, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this entry-level Zojirushi rice cooker several years ago because I wasn't sure how I would like it, and so I suffered through the spitting of rice gluten through the spout for the sake of properly cooked rice. Eventually, I replaced it with a much larger, sturdier Zojirushi model. However, this past summer, I pulled it out from under my counter to teach my college age daughter how to use it, and I was reminded that, although my newer model is much better, this is the cooker that convinced me that all rice should be made in a special purpose machine. My rice never turned out this good on the stove.
Although some crisping occurs on the bottom, most of the rice is fluffy and perfectly cooked, provided that you use the included measuring cup and the corresponding lines in the pan. I found that 3/4 cup equals the "one cup" stated in the manual. (It's one Zojirushi cup.) I use primarily jasmine rice - never converted - and the cooker works like a charm, even if I have to clean up globs of rice gluten afterward. Rinsing the rice prior to cooking definitely cuts down on the spitting. My daughter used it several times a week in her apartment over the summer, and she was delighted to have it.
I recommend this rice cooker only if you make rice only occasionally or if you aren't sure whether you want to devote the counter space and money for a higher end model. Based on my research prior to purchasing, many rice cookers in the same price range simply do not work as well.

Simple & Convenient December 12, 2009 john lindsey (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We have used our steamer for the last 6 months. It's quick, easy to clean and consistent. The best advice I have read, used, and would give is in regards to rice selection and preparation. We buy Basamati rice from a mediterranean market and it is superb. Rinse 3-4 times and cook using equal parts with water. Our kids, parents and entire family really enjoy the rice this cooker makes.
Keeps it simple. December 11, 2009 Amoah Kwatakye (DC Metro Area) I just cooked my first pot of brown rice in my new 3-cup Zojirushi and it came out perfectly. So perfectly that I forgot I was eating brown rice. This rice cooker is very basic and simple to use and I anticipate using it several times a week.
Yes, there are other rice cookers with lots of bells and whistles but if you are cooking rice just a few times a week for one or two people (light eaters), this cooker should do the trick.
Yes, the spout does create a small amount of spurt but it's not a big deal to clean that up... and much better than the spill over burnt pot you can often get while cooking rice on a stove top.
Works great November 24, 2009 art_momma_89 I bought this for my parents. They eat rice every day and this rice cooker holds up to the frequent use.
