Customer Reviews:
2 out of 5 stars It worked for almost a year under heavy usage, but not very well.   November 6, 2006

To be fair, we are probably not the target market for this unit; I am a frequent cook, and it gets used at least once or twice a day. Unfortunately, we live in a studio apartment, and this is what our landlord provided.

First the good:
It didn't die for nearly a year, it does get hot, and the left (1000W) burner is pretty adequate.

Now the bad:
The right (500W) burner is largely useless, and there is no chance of it ever boiling water. The burners are also too close together to use both at once, anyhow. The thermostat is terrible (it's on or off, and their effort at temperature control is a bad joke). Finally, after a bit over a year, the burner stopped turning off. (Well, it turns off sometimes, but then it goes back on in the middle of the night. See the previous review, in which the same problem is described by someone else.) I realize the instructions say to unplug it when it is not in use, but let's be honest- who is going to do that if they use this every day? I'd rather not burn down our apartment because the burner is on all day, and it's a huge waste of electricity.

This might be inexpensive, but sometimes, you get what you paid for.

1 out of 5 stars Bad Product   November 2, 2006

the controls for both ranges don't work, since the very begining they fail to turn it off and it is both controls so i am sure you will get more complains regarding this aspect of the product. It was cheap, but i would rather have paid more for it to get a better product with working controls.

this is a small and good quality heater for cooking and it is ideal for small houses like mine.
