Product Description Innovative technology and style meet time-honored practicality in the Dualit Lite 2-Slice Toaster. The award-winning ProHeat system efficiently and evenly toasts the bread, while a manual browning dial and ejector lever put you in control. The retro stainless steel body is brought up to date with a uniquely touchable ABS covering. Extra-wide slots automatically adjust to fit thick bread slices and English muffins, and should a morsel break off, the high-lift function ensures it won't be lost inside the toaster. Features a neon light that glows when toasting is in progress, auto shutoff and removable crumb tray for easy cleaning. Hand-assembled in China. Imported. 6-7/10Hx8Wx10-3/5L".

Who knew a toaster was so hard to choose! December 5, 2009 Mel Counts Beans (Southwestern USA) Tired of my cheap toaster that wasn't wide enough for bagels, I went searching for a new one.
This one had all of the features I was looking for:
Wide enough for bagels
Adjusting wire holders to secure thin or wobbly items
Extra lift to retrieve short items
No-nonsense controls
One-sided bagel feature if desired
Easy to clean crumb-catcher
Cord not too long, not too short
Reliable company
The bagel feature is really nice because you can push the button at any point in the cycle and it will instantly turn the heat coils on or off, letting you choose how long you want to warm the one side or not.
The only thing I can't figure out is why the settings go up to level 8. So far the most we've used is 3 and 1/2. Maybe for frozen pastries? I guess it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
Although I thought the price was a little steep, after looking at the big box stores at the less expensive ones, I decided this was worth it.
Edited review July 24, 2010:
I still like this toaster, BUT...even the lowest setting can SOMETIMES result in almost burned regular sliced bread, but not always. Weird, I know. It's not like I'm doing several slices of toast and the toaster gets tired. It just seems inconsistant. I hate having to watch my toast to get it just right, but it'll have to do till this toaster dies. I still have NEVER used any setting over 3 1/2.
The Worst Toaster in the History of Bread November 29, 2009 Bluegrass Around Me (Central Kentucky) This a great looking toaster. Kudos to the designer. The engineer who designed the inside should be shot. The thermostat is set so high that at the lowest setting it almost burns a Pop Tart. Any setting above three and a half burns bread. The bagel setting doesn't work well because the outside heating element is always more powerful than the inside element. Hence bagels take forever (It turns off the outside element). Bread/waffles burn on one side and aren't crisp on the other. I look forward to posting pictures after using this toaster as target practice.
One positive...the slots are a great size.
Looks nice, poor quality July 15, 2009 GAR (San Francisco, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought one 3 years ago. Within a few weeks, the rubber foot "melted" and rubber kept getting on my counter top. Then the foot finally disintegrated. And a week ago the heating elements broke and it now burns the toast on the lower half of one side. Disappointing considering the hefty price; this is not a $20 toaster after all. Do not recommend.
JET boynton Beach FL April 21, 2009 Joan E. Terry Did alot of research on "toasters" Who would think!
This one fit the bill... good looking on the counter..
takes up very little space and the best part... it does what
it's supposed to...toast evenly...
Bestest Toaster Ever! April 9, 2009 Jon C. Paulus (Parma, OH USA) I love my new Dualit Lite toaster. It does what it is supposed to do, and it does it simply and well. Two controls- cooking time and bagel/non-bagel setting. How do you do frozen bread? Hmmm, turn it one number darker. Wow. Cool. Toasts nicely and evenly. The only disappointment I have is that other reviewers indicated that the toast may pop out of the toaster like an I Love Lucy bit. I haven't had that happen, and I was looking forward to some comedy with my morning toast. Have to resort to the funny papers. Also purchased the sandwich gadget and it works well, too. Simple, easy way to make grilled cheese. Delish!
