Product Description
Designed for families or for use when entertaining, this waffle iron from Cuisinart bakes six, traditional-style waffles at once. Customize yours by choosing one of the six brownness settings. There's a red light that lets you know the waffle iron is on and a green light that means it's ready to bake then ready to eat. An audible tone also alerts you. The baking plates are nonstick so your waffles pop right out. Other features include cool-touch handles. For storing, the lid locks in place, the cord wraps then the entire unit can be placed on its side. Weighs approx. 10-lbs. Yields 4.25-in. x 3.5-in. sized waffles.

4 out of 5 stars Great waffle iron with one stupid design issue   February 28, 2010
M. Carter (Kentucky)
This is a traditional depth waffle iron, not the Belgian depth, which we prefer. It works great as noted by numerous reviewers, so nothing wrong with how it works. You just need to make sure you figure how much batter to add without spilling. The problem is the bottom lip around the entire bottom of the unit overlaps on the outside of the metal sides. So if you overfill, the matter runs inside the lip, and you cannot get it out. The kids don't really care about pouring the exact amount of batter, so runs out everywhere. Sooner or later the entire lip is full of old batter, so probably doesn't really matter. Not a functional issue, just an aesthetics issue.

5 out of 5 stars No Gripes   February 20, 2010
J. Lockwood (Milton FL USA)
Great waffle iron! Love it! Used about 1 and 1/2 cups batter and it cooked them really fast. Used the #4 setting and they were done in just a couple of minutes. Not sure why people are griping about getting burned on the sides of the handle. ???? I kept touching it to see if it was hot. It never got past barely warm to the touch and I cooked 4 rounds of waffles. So anyway, props to Cuisinart for a great waffle iron that makes 6 waffles fast.

2 out of 5 stars This does not make Belgian waffles!   January 23, 2010
In my opinion... (Madison, WI)
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I received the WAF-4B (four slice) waffle iron as a gift. One of our kids knocked it off the counter and the handle snapped off. Since it was our fault, Cuisinart said they wouldn't take it back (understandably) and they didn't have parts to replace the handle. So I went online and saw this WAF-6, thinking more is better since we have a big family. I didn't realize until after receiving it that the 'B' in WAF-4B must stand for Belgian and there is no 'B' in WAF-6. My oversight. Hopefully this review will help others not to make the same mistake. The WAF-6 is the traditional style, even though the pictures look like Belgian waffles to me. Of course, now I see that it says WAF-6 Traditional Style 6-Slice in the description, but I was too excited and blind to see that before ordering! I probably use more batter in the WAF-4B 4-slice waffles than would be used by the WAF-6 (but I didn't verify this because I returned the WAF-6). The story has a happy ending. My machinist father created a new handle for the WAF-4B and made it better than original so we're back to waffle business!

4 out of 5 stars Nice waffle iron   January 17, 2010
JuJu (ND)
I bought this to replace an aging and recently broken unit & it works great. My first batch did overflow, but I found that if I spread the batter out in each of the 6 areas, they cooked evenly & there was no mess. This thing does get extremely HOT! Be sure to keep it back away from the counter edges & keep a pot holder handy. The beeping does come in handy if you are busy making other breakfast items at the same time, so you don't have to hover over your waffles. Also, make sure you season it with oil (even the overflow portion) before use to avoid sticking.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed After Using for Several Years   January 4, 2010
W. Thalheimer (Somerville, MA, USA)
I've used this waffle iron almost every Sunday for over two years. I would NOT buy it again.

Here's the problems:

1. Super-Loud Buzzer that goes off constantly. We called Cuisinart, they said it is NOT possible to turn it off.

2. Heat-adjustment knob broke very quickly. We now use pliers to adjust.

3. Not very well made. Besides the knob, I dropped it and plastic broke off in two parts.

Here's the pluses:

1. Cooks six waffle-sections at a time.

2. Cooks good waffles.

I still worry about non-stick cooking surface (shown toxic at high heat levels), but I suppose the waffle iron is okay because heat doesn't get too high. But you just can't buy a non non-stick waffle iron anymore...
