Exceptional Ikon Toaster February 17, 2010 J. Reisch Just received the Ikon toaster and already love it. The quality of the make, the counter space saved and the exceptional toasting were the highlites! The extra $ paid is worth it. Used Setting 4 for whole wheat english muffins and it turned out perfect. I would highly recommend this product. Ordered from Amazon on Sunday evening, was toasting by Wednesday. Excellent service from Amazon, once again.
Thank you.

Best toaster for the money. February 16, 2010 JR (Saratoga, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We've tried several toasters over $50 (for a 4-slice model). For the money I think this is the best available at this time. We've had ours for months. It is reliable and consistent. Noting others comments, we usually use it on 3 or 4. A frozen waffle takes a 6 or 7 for our taste. Raisin bread should be set lower, like a 3 at most. I find that the thickness, density, and starting temperature of the bread all affect the making of perfect toast. It also matters if it's on your first batch of the day or if the toaster is already warmed up. The heating elements provide fairly even radiant heat and the bread is evenly browned (if it is a flat slice). I've spent hundreds on toasters and so far I think this is the best value I've seen. The beep is rather loud and surprising till you get used to it. I like the digital setting knob.
I should have purchased the Breville 2-slice. February 15, 2010 Emeril (United States) What's right with it: Its pretty. The lift-up lever to check out your toast is handy. The eject button is handy.
What's wrong with it: It's too big (takes up 90 sq.in.). The big black three-prong plug is obtrusive. The big, impressive, digital read-out is illegible up close. It toasts unevenly and unpredictably. Why would one end of a slice of white bread be burned and the other end undone? It's hard to remove a piece of bread that falls below. The "Reheat, Bagel, Defrost" functions are virtually useless. When all is said and done, bells, whistles and design aside, you buy a toaster to toast. This toaster stands in its own way of getting the simple job done of toasting. Maybe I'm asking too much?
A True Toaster February 12, 2010 R. Caswell My family eats toast like it's going out of fashion, so I decided to get them a new toaster for Christmas. After much perusing of reviews, I decided to go with this toaster, despite the complaints some people had with it. We were not disappointed! This is an excellent toaster, and hasn't given us any trouble.
Some people complained that any setting over 2 turned their toast into charcoal. I don't know what they were trying to toast - maybe wonderbread? - but my family uses everything up to 9 (my father likes his toast almost burnt.) I hover around 6 or 7. We eat a lot of substantial breads, artisan french breads and the like, so the higher settings get used. The extra-long slots are not only nice for toasting more than two pieces of toast, they're also great for accommodating long slices of bread. Our favorite seeded sourdough bread was too long for our old toaster, but we no longer have to trim the ends or toast it at an angle to fit the slices into the toaster. My family also loves the "lift-and-look" feature.
Some reviews mentioned this toaster flinging toast across the counter. This has never happened with us, even when toasting tiny little baguette slices.
The plug design is ingenious, and I wish more appliances incorporated it.
Two tiny complaints, but not enough to subtract a star: the beeping is kind of loud, and it has a little red status light that stays on all the time, like most new electronics. My family just unplugs the toaster at night.
Looks great, works great. February 8, 2010 S. Leingang (Roselle Park,NJ) I looked for a long time to find a 4-slice toaster made the long way. I could only find white ones. I am very pleased with the way this one looks and fits perfectly on the counter without monopolizing the counter space. I like the many dial/darkness options and the lifting handle which allows you to monitor the darkness of your toast while it's toasting.
