In this stressed-out technological world it is a real pleasure to come across a product that does what it is supposed to do, does it extremely well, and avoids trying to rest its laurels on technology.
Although not a major item, this is the most satisfying purchase I have made all this year. This Sunbeam KJX17 1.7 Liter 1500 Watt Water Heater could not possibly benefit from any attempt to improve it. Sunbeam, please leave it alone and get Amazon to quickly bring it back into stock. The speed with which it brings 1.7 liters of water to a boil is astonishing. For me, one of the nicest features is that it shuts off immediately as it comes to a boil; no need to worry about any water overflow from cooking too long.
In short: if you need to heat water in a hurry, get one of these -- you won't be sorry. As I write this review, the KJX17 is apparently no longer available from Amazon. Let's get it back soon for everyone to benefit from its quality workmanship and solid performance.

I got this tea kettle as an affordable replacement for an elegant $70 one that failed just outside warranty. It has worked well until now - but now it is out of warranty there are sparks emerging from where the cord enters the body. So we need a new one. Overall, I think it's good: filter (not impossible to install, despite one reviewer's problems); quick to boil; not too noisy (and the sound tells me when it's ready); and only $25 (why spend several times as much for another Chinese product that won't necessarily last any longer?). I'll buy the same again: not elegant, but functional.
Incidentally, what Amazonian idiot tagged this as "cordless"? - it isn't.

Notice this product does not have separate base. so you use it near the electric outlet

I read all the reviews and picked the Sunbeam because of that & the great price. I was very disappointed when I used the kettle. As soon as the water boiled it would leak out of the bottom of the kettle. Not a little leak but a ton of water. Not sure if I just got a bad one. Not gonna risk it, will purchase a different model.
