Great looking but not worth it November 30, 2009 klove4u (Upper Marlboro, MD) We've owned this toaster for about 16 months and it has died. It looks really great on our counter, but what good is that if it doesn't work? I noticed it was having issues about 2 months ago - the lever wouldn't stay down when we inserted bread or waffles; it also stopped popping up the bread or waffles when done. I'd say pass on this. I thought Krups was a good brand but this product doesn't live up to their reputation. Very disappointing.
First - And Last - Krups Product. Went Bust Fast April 1, 2009 Charlie Brown (Miami, FL) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I used to have a Black & Decker toaster that worked marvelously for about 10 years, paying less than 10 dollars at the time for it on a special sale. As it didn't look modern or nice anymore after 10 years of heavy use, I made the brilliant decision to buy this Krups toaster for about 50 bucks, horribly expensive I thought but looked very nice and the brand had -again, HAD- a fairly good reputation
After about 1 year and 10 days this toaster stopped working without reason, it just went bust briefly after the warranty period expired. Nice. Now I'm stuck with a piece of junk that would be worth only if to throwing against the window of the office of the genius that runs this company and the smart guys that design their products. Way to become successful stealing people's money selling them rubbish
This was my first and last Krups product. They just lost a customer forever
Mediocre Toaster March 9, 2009 teknozen (Marin County) It's o.k. for the price--but just barely. A leisurely toaster, it also has the annoying habit of browning each side differently. And NO, I do not mean when it's on the "bagel setting" either. The slots are not particularly long, designed for a standard sandwich-sized slice; so if you bake your own bread or buy the artisanal variety, your choices are either cutting the slice in half, or doing a double-dip switching ends (and side-to-side, too, if you are in a mood for both sides to be toasted equally). Nor are the slots especially generous in width. Forget trying to jam a croissant down there, and if you set it on top, it will burn.
Next time, I'll go for one of the better Cuisinarts or a Breville, or maybe get lucky and find one of those dandy all-stainless English Dualits on eBay for under a hundred or so--and I suggest you do the same. I mean to say, this thing is likely to be sitting on your counter for years, so you might as well get something you actually enjoy, as opposed to a half-baked unit that is mildly annoying every time you use it.
Krups ss toaster November 16, 2008 bkul (CT, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This toaster works well. It was a replacement for an older white Krups toaster that I had for about ten years. The removable crumb tray is always a plus, makes it so easy to clean. It toasts well and is a more compact overall size. Don't like the bagel setting. Can't figure out why you want to toast just one side. Does not allow the very large width sizes of bread, thickness is not a problem. I like the exterior finish, the stainless steel has a slightly darker patina than some other models.
It's a good toaster. October 24, 2008 Lori M. Barni I think for under $40 that this is a great toaster. It doesn't fit wider slices of bread, you have to feed them in longways. The best feature is the "stop" button on the front, which ejects bread mid-toast.
