Nice opener/difficult installation February 28, 2010 S. Holbrook (Magnolia, TX) I agree with the other reviewers about the mounting design on this can opener, the front screw openings need to be moved back about an inch. The first time we installed it, the lever wouldn't open all the way. I was able to open a can, but I knew it was going to bother me that I couldn't fully lift the lever. There were two problems. The can opener needed to be moved forward (although with the cabinet overhang that wasn't going to be enough), and it need to be lower. So we moved the holes forward as much as possible and bought additional spacers. The lever opens completely now. The can opener is kind of large, but at least it's not sitting on the counter. Concerning the cover, at first I thought it wouldn't open all the way, but then I played with it a little and it opened completely out of the way to accomodate large cans.
Dealer 5 Star product 3 star. January 31, 2010 J. Folwell (Jennings, FL, US) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Gave 4 star not because of the dealer.Dealer was 5 star all the way. was fast and excellent. Items arrived in excellent condition. Had old Black and Decker under cabinet opener with clock and all the other features and the quality was much better and more features for less cost.10 years of use. They improved the looks and lowered quality and features. even the door doesn't stay closed. Again not the dealers fault.Guess the saying is true that they don't make things like they use to.
Black and Decker Spacemaker Can Opener January 30, 2010 Gina Saguto (Branson Mo) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We really like this can opener. We have always had the Black and Decker Spacemakers and never had any problems with them. I have seen many negative reviews on this can opener, and it is not the machine. It is the impatient Operators of this device. If you take your time, and match the can up to the cutter, hold the bottom of the can with your left hand finger of choice while it is opening the can, it will be a complete opening success for you. No matter HOW Large or Small the can is. I love the feature of this one's door. It opens partially for opening a small can or all the way down for big can's. The appearance is what we wanted too. It matches our Stainless appliances with the black combo. Easy to clean. Just be a little patient and match up the top of the can with the opener. Thats all you have to do. The lids do become Jagged as in the descripts of the negative Feedback, but Hubby and I have come to the resolve that it is the type of aluminum used to manufacture the can. Not the Black and Decker Openers fault. Some cans open nice and clean. Others, Jagged as described. It is going into the trash anyway, unless you decorate the walls with them.
good can opener January 30, 2010 V. Baity (NC, USA) Bought as a replacement for an old countertop model. Works great! Had to do minor adjustment to allow for the door.
Can opener January 27, 2010 James (Texas) We searched high and low for the stainless steel and black openers. We ordered them from two other stores, but when shipped, they were only solid black. Finally, I checked again on AMAZON and found it in stock. Haven't used it yet, but we have an OLD, (like from the '80's) Black and Decker under the cabinet opener, and it still works, so I'm hoping to get the same performance record from this one.
