Amazon.com Review With a capacity of 2.36 ounces, this sleek machine employs stainless-steel blades to grind enough coffee beans for brewing up to twelve 5-ounce cups of percolator, drip, or espresso coffee. The grinder can be filled with beans and the amount of beans it grinds can be selected with a dial that's calibrated by number of cups desired: 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12. During operation, lights above the on/off button flash on the grind selector, indicating when the grind is coarse, medium, or fine, permitting the grinder to be shut off when the desired grind is achieved. The grind selector displays the words "coarse," "medium," and "fine" along with the brewing method appropriate for each grind: respectively, "perc" (percolator), "drip," and "espresso." Clad in gleaming black plastic with matte silver accents, the hourglass-shaped grinder is thoroughly contemporary in appearance and has a rubberized grip and push-in cord storage. Rubberized feet prevent it from slipping during operation. It carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Okay for the price. February 8, 2010 bajaskier (Menomonee Falls, WI) The silver portion of the finish is paint, not stainless steel.
The lights are meaningless...essentially timers.
Cord retractor is great.
Great little grinder November 16, 2009 Carl E. Schauble (Ozark, AL United States) I use this grinder for grinding spices. I am sure it would work equally as well for grinding coffee. It works like a charm and is easy to clean. Great product.
Not worth the price tag. October 13, 2009 Ein (SF, CA, USA) This is the second grinder I have owned. The first was an old Braun that worked well for years until I lost it during a move. I purchased this grinder because of the seemingly easy to use feature for making coarse, medium, and fine grinds. I was somewhat disappointed when I realized that the difference was only in the duration of the grinding. I was further disappointed when I noticed, particularly with coarse-medium grinds, many of the beans are unground or ground unevenly. In fact, all the grinds are uneven. What I usually get is a mix of really finely ground beans with really course grinds, regardless of how long I grind it. Varying the amount of beans does not improve this. I give this two stars for lack of precision.
I would give it six stars, if I could! October 8, 2009 Avid Reader The DeLonghi DCG39 Electric Grinder, 2.36-Ounce Capacity is ***the*** best coffee bean grinder I have ever used (and I have had quite the collection of them)! The settings are easy to use and precise, and it's attractive looking, too. I liked it so much that I bought one as part of a wedding gift, too. I will buy more as gifts in the future, for my coffee-snob friends and family.
Not for oily beans September 23, 2009 PachaMama (Arizona, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted to like this grinder - it just looks so nice on the counter! But unfortunately it doesn't work for the type of brewing we do. We use a coffee press and use French roast beans, which tend to be very oily. I first tested the grinder with regular roast beans and thought it did outstanding! But for some reason the oily beans end up being groud for a longer period of time so what is supposed to be a coarse grind looks more like a medium to find grind (and lots of coffee dust in the resulting brew). Several beans were unground and sitting at the top of the grinder untouched when the coarse light was lit. It's also a challenge to get all the grounds into the coffee pot - not impossible, but the base is very wide and I have to be mindful how I tip the grounds into the coffeemaker. And if I try to tip the grounds into the lid first, they tend to overflow and make a worse mess. It's back to our trust basic Krups until I can find a grinder that'll do a better job with the beans we use.
