So far the Delonghi is doing great.
I enjoy the different options for toasting.
You can reheat a already toasted piece of toast.
You have a bagel option and also a frozen option.
It looks on the counter top and has easy to clean crumb pans.
I would recommend it.
The price on Amazon was great.
It's OK July 2, 2010 Linda P (Bronx, NY) My old DeLonghi finally broke after many years of good service, and I wanted another 4-slice toaster in stainless steel, so naturally I selected this one. It's OK but some earlier reviewers were correct -- it tends to toast the bread a little too light, and I don't mean only frozen bread or bagels. It's adequate and I love how it looks, but I keep it on the highest setting and sometimes have to pop the toast back down for a second time.
Warning....Amazon may be selling used toasters as new May 26, 2010 Ted Fulton (Malibu) Toaster appears to work fine....(it just arrived and used it once). But the toaster arrived with small dents and scratches so I suspect it was a returned toaster that Amazon is now peddling as new. No one would have purchased this toaster in it's present condition as new in a store. But how many people will go to the hassle of returning it via the mail?....not many, and I suspect that is what the seller is counting on.
updated review
However, I returned the toaster (my first return with Amazon) and it was surprisingly easy and they quickly shipped me a new one in perfect condition. So despite this negative review initially it has turned out to be a positive for Amazon as I was surprised how easy it was to return items. (They supply a UPS slip for return and UPS picks it up or you can drop it off)
SHOP WITH CONFIDENCE USING AMAZON.....
will update this review if I have any problems with this new toaster. I say if you like the look of this toaster, take a chance, it's easy to return items using Amazon (much to my surprise)
Terrible Product April 17, 2010 Philip J. Gallivan Jr. This toaster after a week or two sltarted toasting on one side, then after 7 months the one side strtes ignoring the number dial so hs to be pushed down several times and soon thereafter would not hold the bread at all. The other side of this toaster simply locked up so we trashed it.
Lasted 16 Days December 21, 2009 David A. Lessnau (USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Once again, the search for fire continues. Sixteen (16) days after buying this DeLonghi CTH4003 "Esclusivo" 4-slice toaster, the right set of slots failed to lock down and turn on. While it worked, it was an excellent toaster: fast, good-looking, even toasting, feature packed. But, after 16 days, it's dead and going back. In the last 8 years we've gone through (at least) 6 toasters:
12/03/01: Villaware 5850 Uno Classic 4-Slice Toaster. It lasted about a week. Then, the left set of slots failed to lock down and turn on.
???: There must have been at least one toaster in this gap. I can't find any records of it, though.
05/01/04: Some GE toaster we bought locally. Didn't break (lasted almost two years), but was starting to take a long time to toast.
11/21/04: Another Villaware 5850 (bought mistakenly). Same problem as the previous Villaware: left set of slots failed to lock down and turn on after about 1 week.
03/27/06: Dualit 4-Slice Toaster. The catch on the slots was starting to fail (i.e., they failed to lock down and turn on, occasionally -- but, it lasted over 3 years).
12/05/09: This DeLonghi CTH4003 Pro-Metal 4-Slice Toaster. After 16 days, the right set of slots failed to lock down and turn on.
As I noted in my Villaware toaster review, my mother's had a toaster that's worked for decades. Yet, we can't find one that lasts more than a couple of years. How hard can it be to make a reliable toaster? Because of the failure, I rate this one at a Bad 1 star out of 5.
