DeLonghi EN660.R Nespresso Lattissima Single-Serve Espresso Maker August 4, 2010 Lexie M Warland (Wolcott, Ct, US) I purchased this model as I thought it was the same as a friend had that I liked only to find it was the wrong one. I should have purchased the Clitz which I could not find on your site. This model is too complicated to use. Therefore everything comes out the same. No real froth as with the Clitz. I did purchase the Clitz from Nespresso and am very happy with it, but for the money ($100.00 or more than the Clitz.) Very unhappy
Worth Every Single Penny! May 13, 2010 JMS66 (New Jersey) I've had this machine for over two years and it is still making macchiatos, cappucinos and espresso as well as it had on day 1. I use it daily.
You cannot find many machines that are as high quality as Nespresso machines are.
On occasion, I've experienced some sputtering when frothing milk, but it is solved by checking to see that the sliding lever and spout are firmly and correctly in place. Also, I run plain water through both the espresso pump and the frother to clean them out after each use. It takes an extra minute and keeps the machine clean and problem-free.
Just in case I ever did experience a problem like others mentioned, I called Nespresso to order a spare jug and frother to have on hand. They were inexpensive and shipped quickly. So far, though, I have never had to use it.
I have a Nespresso Essenza and aeroccino at work, and I use the Latissima at home. I prefer the Latissima for the quality of the froth it produces, as well as the convenience of the detachable jug and being able to push a single button to create a delicious macchiato or cappucino (although I like to use a double shot and add a second shot of espresso to my macchiatos.) Plus, it's a great-looking machine that looks good in my kitchen. I've converted a number of people to Nespresso through my machine. High quality espresso drinks without the time, mess and fuss--can't beat it!
Excellent Espresso Machine! April 25, 2010 Nona Bieswacsx (Pacific Northwest) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would absolutely recommend this machine! Our family of four coffee drinkers has been using this machine for eight months, making several lattes & americanos each day. They are consistently delicious. Nespresso delivers the pods very promptly & after lots of sampling, we have about 4 different pods that we purchase regularly.
I was moved to write this review by the one about milk sputtering into the cup. I have had that problem occasionally - just press the milk unit in firmly & make sure that you clean it (by pressing the steam clean button) after each use. The only reason that I don't give this machine 5 stars is that I'd like my milk just a little warmer. But overall the machine is totally reliable, the results are excellent & the pods arrive at my door a couple days after I order them. I haven't done the math, but I am pretty sure that the machine has paid for itself in money saved on my daily lattes alone!
Easy & Delicious January 31, 2010 Fletch (East Coast) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I went through about 5 different machines, including much more expensive ones, before settling on the Nespresso / DeLonghi EN660. I got it in red because at the time the red one was $100 cheaper than the black one. The black and red models are identical. The stainless steel version is $100 more, and has a stronger heating element in the top, so if you store cups on the top they will be much warmer than with the red or black version. Other than that, there is no functional difference between the stainless steel version and the black/red version.
I have had this machines for about 6 months now, and I absolutely love it. The coffee is delicious, and there's virtually no cleanup. I can quickly make complicated drinks. I especially love the fact that it automatically dispenses the milk when making milk-based coffee drinks.
I have found over time that this machine is very reliable, but there a few tricks/tips to make sure the milk froths properly:
1. The machine says it's ready to make milk froth too quickly. Frequently, if I make a latte as soon as the machine stops blinking and is ready to go, the milk isn't frothed enough. If I wait another 10 minutes or so, the machine is hot enough and the milk froths more fully.
2.If milk isn't frothing enough, the parts in the milk container may need a good washing. I find that I need to put the milk container and parts in the dish washer once a week. If frothing starts going down hill, it's time for a visit to the dishwasher
I would definitely buy this machine again. The Nespresso coffee tastes great, and it's super easy to use. Cleanup is just a matter of pressing the steam button for 10 seconds, and wiping the nozzle and steam wand with a damp paper towel.
Would be Perfect with Hot Milk December 27, 2008 Leonard Leichnitz (The OC) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am long-time Nespresso owner/user. Went to Nespresso boutique in Bloomingdale's South Coast Plaza to buy their stand alone milk steamer, and impulsively decided to forget the recession and splurge on an upgrade to this machine for Christmas. Coffee quality is great, but I knew that already. Bought this machine to simplify cappuccino/latte making. What a great idea -- a detachable, fully automated milk steamer. Just push the button, and it puts the right amount (machine lets you program your preferred ratio of milk/coffee) of steamed milk and coffee into your cup. Plus, it has a separate heater/pump. One downside of other Nespresso machine is that, because coffee/steamer uses same pump, and must be hotter for milk steamer, you cannot go right back to making more coffee after steaming milk (takes about 2-4 minutes for pump to cool down to coffee temp). With this machine, you can make separate coffees/lattes for each person at a dinner party. 20 lattes are no problem. I was totally sold on idea.
BIG PROBLEM -- milk does not get very hot. It will be hot enough for some people. My wife has no problem with it. But even though my perfect cappuccino takes relatively little milk, it gets lukewarm within a minute or two after making it with this machine. Yuck.
So with regret, it gets 3 stars. It is a good idea, and will be very satisfactory for some users.
For myself, however, and others who like their single serve coffee with hot milk, the machine is a big disappointment. I am returning it.
